Rewards
Rewards motivate your family to complete tasks! Children earn XP from tasks and spend it on rewards you create - turning chores into an exciting reward system.
Note
Quest Note: Rewards are the ultimate motivation! Kids see what they’re working toward and stay engaged longer.
How Rewards Work
The Reward Lifecycle:
Parents/Co-Parents create rewards in the catalog
Children browse available rewards
Children claim rewards by spending XP
Parents/Co-Parents receive claim notifications
Parents approve claims and deliver rewards in real life
Parents/Co-Parents mark rewards as delivered after physically delivering them
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Mix instant rewards (extra screentime) with bigger goals (trip to the park) to maintain motivation!
Creating Rewards (Parents & Co-Parents)
Step-by-Step Reward Creation
Go to the Rewards tab in the bottom navigation
Tap the + (Plus) button
Fill in reward details:
Reward Name (Required)
The title that children see in the reward catalog.
Examples: - “30 minutes extra screen time” - “Choose tonight’s dinner” - “Trip to the ice cream shop” - “New video game” - “Sleepover with a friend”
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Use exciting, specific names! “Epic movie night with popcorn” is more appealing than “watch a movie.”
Description (Optional)
Add details about what the reward includes.
Examples: - “Pick any movie and we’ll make popcorn!” - “Choose anywhere within 10 miles for ice cream” - “Any game under $30 on Steam or Nintendo eShop”
Note
Quest Note: Clear descriptions prevent misunderstandings and disputes later!
XP Cost (Required)
Set how many XP points children must spend to claim this reward.
Typical XP costs: - Small rewards (daily treats): 50-100 XP - Medium rewards (weekend activities): 150-300 XP - Large rewards (special privileges): 400-800 XP - Epic rewards (major purchases): 1000-5000 XP
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Price rewards based on value and effort. A $20 toy should cost more XP than 30 minutes of screen time!
Category (Optional)
Organize rewards by type:
Screen Time: TV, games, device time
Activities: Outings, events, experiences
Treats: Snacks, desserts, special food
Purchases: Toys, games, items to buy
Privileges: Special permissions, choices
Other: Anything else!

Age Restriction (Optional)
Set minimum age requirements:
Ages 5-7: Simple rewards for younger kids
Ages 8-10: Moderate rewards
Ages 11-13: Teen-appropriate rewards
Ages 14+: Older teen rewards

Unlimited: Always available (default)
Limited: Set a maximum number of claims
Examples: - “Trip to movies”: Limited to 1 per month - “Extra screen time”: Unlimited (claimable anytime)
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Use limits for expensive rewards or to teach delayed gratification!
Approval Required (Recommended)
Toggle whether claims need parent approval:
Approval Required (ON): You must approve before delivery
Auto-Approve (OFF): Claim completes automatically
Important
Achievement Unlocked: We recommend keeping approval ON for all rewards! It gives you control over timing and delivery.

You wait for parent approval
Note
Quest Note: XP is deducted immediately, even before approval. This prevents “XP inflation” where kids claim multiple expensive rewards at once!
Can I Cancel a Claim?
No, children cannot cancel claims. Only parents can cancel and refund XP.
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Think before you claim! Make sure it’s really what you want.
Approving Claims (Parents & Co-Parents)
Approval Workflow
You receive a push notification when a child claims a reward
Go to Rewards > Pending Claims
Review the claim
Choose an action:

Deny: Reject and refund XP

Approving a Claim
Tap the pending claim

Tip
Power-Up Tip: Approve quickly and deliver the same day if possible! Fast rewards reinforce positive behavior.
Delivering the Reward
After approval, you must actually deliver the reward:
Screen time: Give device access
Treats: Provide the snack or dessert
Activities: Take them to the location
Purchases: Buy and give them the item
Privileges: Grant the special permission
Important
Achievement Unlocked: Always follow through! Failing to deliver rewards breaks trust and demotivates kids.
Denying a Claim
If you need to reject a claim:
Tap the pending claim
Tap Deny
Add a reason (required)
Claim is denied
XP is refunded to the child
Child receives notification with your reason
Reasons to deny: - “We already have plans this weekend” - “This reward is temporarily unavailable” - “Let’s discuss this first - I had questions”
Note
Quest Note: Denied claims fully refund XP. Use this if you need to discuss the reward or timing first.
Cancelling a Claim
Cancel claims you’ve already approved if circumstances change:
Go to Rewards > Claim History
Find the approved claim
Tap Cancel
Add a reason
XP is refunded
Warning
Warning Scroll: Only cancel when absolutely necessary! Frequent cancellations demotivate children.
Marking as Delivered (Parents & Co-Parents)
After you physically deliver the reward to your child:
Go to Rewards > Claim History
Find the approved reward
Tap Mark as Delivered
Reward moves to “Delivered” status
Claim is complete!
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Always mark rewards delivered after giving them to your child! This keeps claim history accurate and helps track completed rewards.
Reward Claim Statuses
Pending: Waiting for parent approval after claim Approved: Parent approved, waiting for physical delivery Delivered: Child received and confirmed delivery Denied: Parent rejected, XP refunded Cancelled: Parent cancelled after approval, XP refunded

Reward Tips & Best Practices
For Parents
Variety: Mix instant rewards with long-term goals
Fair Pricing: Match XP cost to real-world value and effort
Non-Monetary: Include experiences, privileges, and time together
Realistic: Only offer rewards you can actually deliver
Quick Approval: Respond to claims within 24 hours
Follow Through: Always deliver approved rewards
Photos: Add enticing photos to boost motivation
Age-Appropriate: Use age restrictions for mature rewards
Limited Quantities: Prevent over-claiming expensive rewards
Regular Updates: Refresh rewards seasonally
Tip
Power-Up Tip: The best rewards aren’t always purchases! “Extra bedtime story” or “choose family movie night” cost nothing but mean everything.
For Children
Save for Goals: Don’t spend XP immediately - save for big rewards
Think Before Claiming: Make sure you really want the reward
Ask Questions: Not sure about a reward? Ask parents first
Mark Delivered: Always confirm when you receive rewards
Be Patient: Parents need time to approve and deliver
Respect Denials: Sometimes timing doesn’t work out
Balanced Claiming: Don’t claim everything at once
Appreciate Rewards: Say thank you when receiving rewards
Tip
Power-Up Tip: Set a savings goal! “I want the $30 game = 500 XP needed” keeps you motivated.

Understanding XP & Rewards Balance
Total XP vs Spendable XP
Total XP: All XP you’ve ever earned (never decreases)
Points Spent: XP you’ve spent on rewards
Current XP: Total XP minus Points Spent
Note
Quest Note: Total XP determines your level. Spending XP on rewards doesn’t affect your level!
Example
Completed 10 tasks = 500 Total XP (Level 5)
Claimed reward = 200 XP spent
Current XP = 300 XP
Your level stays at Level 5!
Tip
Power-Up Tip: You can spend all your XP and still keep your level! Levels are based on total earned, not current balance.
